International Women’s Day – events honoring women in Austin

Wednesday, March 8th is International Women’s Day, a day to raise awareness of bias, take action for equality, and celebrate women. In addition to International Women’s Day, March is also Women’s History Month.

To further respect and protect women’s rights, we’re introducing this list of events where you can celebrate women in Austin starting TODAY!

Justice affected girls and women rally in Austin
Wednesday, March 8 | From 11:00 to 13:00 | Texas State Capitol, 1100 Congress Avenue
Celebrate success and give voice to the struggles of current and ex-prisoned girls and women. Meet on the steps of Southside and celebrate International Women’s Day! They will have four state legislators who will talk about the work they are doing in support of girls and women who are currently or previously incarcerated, as well as women in community organizations who are directly affected and are doing a great job to repay.

Health Evening on International Women’s Day
Wednesday, March 8 | From 18:30 to 20:30| South Convention Hotel, 1603 Congress Avenue.

This donation-based gathering is an opportunity to come together as a community to honor, celebrate and support women around the world. We are pleased to announce that 100% of proceeds from this event will go directly to support The Truth Will Be Told, an organization that provides transformational trauma response programs for women who are or have been incarcerated to promote healing and empowerment. . break the circle of imprisonment for themselves, their families and their communities.
