Insulators to be open to cold front this weekend

Another cold front is expected in southwest Florida this weekend. This will be the coldest period the SWFL has experienced in nearly a year. Some communities will have wind chill guidelines in place. We could feel the temperature in the 30s. Fox 4 certified meteorologist Kathy Walls has the full forecast.

Charlotte County –
The Charlotte County Homeless Coalition, 1476 Kenesaw St., Port Charlotte, will provide shelter for people who need shelter from cold Friday and Saturday nights.
They will open on Sunday evening if the forecast does not change. Guests must pre-register by calling 941-627-4313 and arrive by 19:00.

Lee County

Heating stations will be open on Pine Island and near San Carlos Island and Fort Myers Beach on January 13, 14 and 15 from 8:00 pm to 8:00 am the next morning. The stations will provide water, coffee and blankets to residents in need. These stations are not shelters and are not intended for overnight stays.

Mobile heating stations will also be provided LiTran buses and will run around Pine Island, Fort Myers Beach and San Carlos Island from 20:00 to 22:30. The buses will provide a respite from the cold weather and can also take residents to the nearest physical heating station.

At Matlacha and Pine Island, a LeeTran Passport van will drive along the Pine Island and Stringfellow roads to pick up passengers. Residents must walk to the main road and abandon the LeeTran van.

At Fort Myers Beach and San Carlos Island, a LeeTran bus with “Special” on its header marquee will follow Route 490, which runs from Beach Park & ​​Ride on Pine Ridge Road to Bay Beach Lane on Fort Myers Beach. Residents must wait at the bus stop along this route to be picked up by the heating station’s mobile vehicle. Route information can be found at rideleetran.com.

Lee County Human and Veterans Assistance Services offers year-round assistance to the homeless. The Coordinated Entry program provides access to street services, emergency shelter, rapid relocation, or permanent supportive housing. To access this service, call 239-533-7996. The number is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Collier County –
House of Saint Matthew in Naples will open 2 emergency shelters –
The shelters are Campbell Lodge at 2001 Airport Road South in Naples and the Immokalee Friendship House at 602 W Main Street in Immokalee.

There is enough space for anyone who needs shelter, and St. Matthew’s House will provide beds, pillows, blankets, snacks and coffee in a safe and secure environment for everyone.

Guests will be required to take a breathalyzer test. We also ask for donations of blankets, pillows, coats, gloves and socks for guests staying at our shelters.
