Indiana man arrested after video showed child playing with a gun

The Indiana boy was detained after doorbell camera footage, which was shown live on Saturday as part of a program that follows police departments, showed his 4-year-old son was seen playing with guns.

The camera caught the baby brandishing a gun in the hallway of the apartment in one diaper. The boy pointed a gun at various doors inside an apartment building in Beach Grove, Indiana, a suburb of Indianapolis, and seemed to pull the trigger many times, although the gun did not fire.

It’s only been a few weeks since a Virginia first grader shot a teacher in the head with a 9mm pistol.

In a video from the TV program On Patrol: Live, a neighbor who dialed 911 tells Beach Grove police that her son opened the door and saw a boy with a gun, then closed the door and informed his family about the child. . Because she sells firearms, the mother claims she saw the boy through the peephole and found out that he was holding a real gun.

The police are then shown entering the boy’s father’s apartment. The father claims he was ill and slept all day, and denies having a gun inside. The police tell the neighbor, who dialed 911, that they were unable to find anything before leaving the apartment.

When the police arrive, a neighbor shows them video from the doorbell camera, which clearly shows the youth playing with a gun in the hallway. Later in the show, additional segments from the doorbell camera footage are shown.

When the police return to the father’s apartment, they discover a pistol in the table, which they identify as a Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol through CCTV footage. Dad is taken into custody. According to a press release from On Patrol: Live, the weapon was loaded.

Shane Osborne, the boy’s father, was detained and charged with neglect of a dependent, a felony, according to Beech Grove Police Department Chief Michael Maurice. Chief Maurice said the baby was returned to his mother.
