DALLAS — Two days in a winter storm and some brave drivers kept sliding and sliding through parts of North Texas.

“Everything is icy, everything is on the roads. Everywhere,” said Thomas Lopez, helping drivers stuck in a parking lot.

On Wednesday, emergency crews continued to respond to service calls about accidents and wing bends.

Some residents of the Oak Cliff area of ​​Dallas reluctantly took to the icy streets. The family of knights walked over one mile in search of food. They collected bread, eggs, meat and other products.

“I don’t do cold. I don’t usually show up in this,” Kuiha Knight said.

Open shops were difficult to find due to the weather.

“Everything in this area is closed. Jefferson, Oak Cliff. Everything is closed,” said Lee Castillo.

The Fiesta grocery store on W. Jefferson Boulevard was one of the few places people found open on Wednesday.

“I called before coming and they said they were open,” Lagarret Douglas said. However, customers said that the staff was limited. “It’s like two lanes are open and there’s very little inside.”

Navigating the icy streets was a challenge even for public transport. DART buses were among the stranded vehicles. Crews were busy taking out these buses.

“We have seen people stuck here. We tried to help them. Like, one of the people stuck in the parking lot. We tried to help them get home,” Lopez explained.

Some neighbors took the time to help those drivers who needed help in dangerous road conditions.

If you don’t have to go, dude, stay home. That’s it,” Lopez said.
