Ice storm in Texas: Crash tore out a power pylon in Leander, resulting in power outages for thousands of people

An accident in Leander led to more blackouts on Saturday evening, according to the city cooperative Leander and Pedernales (PEC).

The city says the accident occurred at FM 2243 and Horizon Park Boulevard and knocked out a power tower as well as several traffic lights.

PEC says the crash caused a service outage affecting about 4,800 customers and that crews were on their way to get customers back online.

According to the PEC outage map, as of 21:15 Feb. 4, 12,110 meters are experiencing problems with 1,609 active outages. The highest concentration of outages occurs in the Dripping Springs, Round Rock, and Leander areas, as well as south of Johnson City towards San Antonio.
