I found a great apartment, but the landlord charges for pet fish.

This seems suspicious.

A surprised TikToker recently discovered that caring for a pet fish can blow up her monthly budget.

On a viral TikTok of over 60,000 views, a Missouri woman known by the username @nicr__ seems at a loss for words about the fee a Kansas City landlord charges for a little swimmer.

She included a screenshot of an online apartment listing claiming that the landlord allows fishing as long as it is not an “aggressive breed”, albeit for a one-time fee of $200 and a monthly fee of $15.

Do they charge rent for fish now? she signed the video, which was posted last week.

Nicole, from St. Louis, told The Post she was looking for housing in Kansas City when she came across listings with “a lot of outlandish fees.”

While the “fee for fish was beyond insane,” she noticed other absurd monthly payments when looking for an apartment, including a “community fee” starting at $100.

“I think we’re all frustrated with how landlords manage to get away with charging insane rents but then paying us 5 cents for anything, and the whole thing is more than ridiculous,” she told The Post in an email, asking her Last name be hidden for privacy reasons.

She noticed Westover at The Crosswalks on a list of apartments with a fish fee, though she said she didn’t confirm if the owner would actually charge her for the fish. The fee is the same for cats, dogs and birds, according to the list.

Monthly rents range from $945 to $1,930 in the new five-story complex, which features studios, one and two bedroom apartments. The Post has reached out to the leasing agency for comment.

The staff member who answered the call said that fish is allowed, but the aquarium cannot be larger than 25 gallons and must be in good condition (no leaks) and cleaned frequently to prevent odor.

The Post was then turned over to Resident Services, who declined to comment further. On Saturday, it was not possible to contact the corporate office.

On TikTok, viewers left Nicole a line in the comments section calling her fin-d cray cray.

“I didn’t think you needed a permit to fish lol,” one person remarked.

“Next, they will ask you to provide proof of spaying and neutering your fish,” another puffed.

“Just in case a fish breaks the carpet,” one user joked.

“Someone had piranhas and ruined them all,” someone else joked.

“$200 for a FISH?” snapped another shocked spectator.

Landlords usually charge a fee for pets, especially cats and dogs, but some tenants are vehemently against such fees, going to great lengths to hide their critters.

One Brit even revealed that she married her feline to avoid a landlord’s payment, and the marriage signaled to apartment owners that the couple was a package deal.
