HPD: Shootout leaves 4 wounded after party in southeast Houston

Police said all four people are expected to survive.

HOUSTON – After Party Shootout Caribbean Style four people were shot, including two guardsaccording to the Houston police.

The shooting occurred just after 2 am on Saturday near the Tumbling R Ranch/Fairground on Fuqua Street and Cottingham Street.

According to the police, when the party ended, there was an altercation between some of those present and the guards. It was then that the quarrel escalated into a shootout between the guards and at least two suspects.

After the first shootout, the man took his girlfriend from the scene, leading to a second shootout between him and the suspects.

“Right now we have a total of four people who have been shot dead,” Assistant Police Chief Thomas Hardin said. “We have two security guards, one man who came to pick up his girlfriend… and another man who came with his wife to the hospital and said he was at a party.”

Police said dozens of shots were fired in the area. Hardin also stated that they were not sure how the altercation started, but that the shooting happened after people at the party were asked to leave.
