HPD: Man shot in the neck during South Side carjacking

Police said parts of the attack were caught on video from surveillance cameras outside the store.

HOUSTON – A man in critical condition after being shot during a South Side carjacking late Wednesday night, according to Houston Police Department.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. outside a shop on Doolittle Boulevard south of 610 South Loop.

Houston police said officers answered a call about the shooting and found a man lying in a parking lot with a gunshot wound to the neck. They provided assistance until the ambulance could take him to the hospital.

Part of the car theft came under surveillance. Police said the video showed the victim pulling up to the store in his pickup truck and then walking inside.

The video then shows him exiting and heading for a dumpster, police said. Someone was seen leaving in their truck while he was on the ground.

Description of the hijacker has not yet been published.
