HOUSTON — Conditions are rapidly getting drier this evening and overnight as a cold front passes over the area. As a result, the temperature at night will drop significantly with mostly clear skies. By Thursday morning, temperatures will be in the high 40s in most areas, much closer to where we should be at this time of year.

High clouds will filter the sun’s rays on Thursday, helping to maintain cooler temperatures. However, despite the clouds, conditions will remain dry as lower humidity settles in the area. Highs in the afternoon should end around 70.

More clouds arrive late Friday ahead of our next storm system that will develop along the coast on Saturday. This next storm system will bring cloudy, rainy and cold conditions to southeast Texas to kick off the weekend. Saturday’s highs will struggle to rise above the 50s.

Sunday will be better but cooler due to this system.

Looking ahead, weather conditions will remain cool and active until the end of the month. Chances of rain will return every few days and temperatures will remain at or below normal, in stark contrast to how this month started.
