Homes lost after wildfires in Collier County

COLLIER COUNTY, Florida (WSVN) — A wildfire in Florida has destroyed homes and heritage on Florida’s West Coast.

The blaze spread throughout Collier County, with about 90% of the blaze contained by Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

One family has lost everything, and their house is over ten years old.

“I saw how much this man worked, you know, for me and for the house, and saw how it all disappeared, and knew where they came from, knew where, where he came from,” Jefferson Romero said.

Romero’s father said his wife was inside the house when the fire spread to their house, but the police managed to get her out safely.
