SAN ANTONIO – Friday, January 27, 2023 is Holocaust Remembrance Day. Events and commemorations are held all over the world.

On this annual day, the UN calls on all member states to commemorate the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and millions of other victims of Nazism, and to develop educational programs to prevent future genocides.

If you would like to commemorate here in San Antonio, you can visit the Holocaust Memorial Museum at 12500 Northwest Military Highway. The museum is open on Friday from 9:00 to 15:00, admission is free.

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is asking everyone to share their thoughts on International Holocaust Remembrance Day on social media via #HolocaustRemembranceDay.

Also on Thursday, President Joe Biden issued a statement on Holocaust Remembrance Day. In part it says:

Tomorrow, Jill and I will pause to mourn the six million Jews who were systematically and brutally murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators during the Holocaust, and to mourn the Roma and Sinti, Slavs, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ people and political dissidents who were also killed. As we join nations around the world in bearing witness to this dark chapter of our shared history, we also honor the survivors and their stories by promising to always remember and stay true to that sacred vow: “never again.”
