Highway 37 in Novato to remain closed due to flooding

Caltrans said Sunday night that Highway 37, which was closed Saturday in both directions near Atherton Avenue, including the US 101 exits on SR-37 at Novato, due to storm-related flooding, is likely to remain closed Monday.

The full highway closure took effect just after 5:30 p.m. Saturday and will remain in effect until the highway is deemed safe for motorists by Caltrans and CHP.

Caltrans crews spent Sunday cleaning up and pumping out standing water from SR-37, as well as taking preventive action as overnight rain and high tides are expected to cause more severe flooding.

Employees will remain on site to continue monitoring the area.

Motorists are encouraged to use US 101 to the I-580 Richmond-San Rafael bridge, then I-80 eastbound to get from Marin County to Solano and other destinations in North Bay.

Caltrans will update its Twitter page for the latest road conditions and on the Caltrans quickmap: quickmap.dot.ca.gov.
