High school baseball coach arrested on suspicion of assaulting student

Austin, Texas – Austin High School head baseball coach Billy Brown was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a student.

A possible reason in the sworn statement is that a student attempted to enter the school on February 7 through a side door when Brown and another coach ordered the student to enter through another set of doors.

Video footage shows the student leaving and then returning to the same door and entering the building.

According to court documents, Brown allegedly grabbed the schoolboy by the hood and threw him to the ground. Another coach caught the student before he hit the floor.

The footage shows the other coach trying to separate Brown and the student, and Brown appears to be kicking the student in the face.

Eventually the student leaves.

Court documents say the student’s injuries include a large scratch on his left shoulder and a bruise and swelling on his right eye.

Brown’s attorney, Rick Flores, sent the following statement to FOX 7 Austin:

“Eight months ago, 19 students and two teachers were killed after an 18-year-old gunman broke into Robb’s elementary school through a side entrance to the school. Unfortunately, we live in a time when schools need to be on high alert for an invasion whose goal is to harm our children, but that is where we are today.”

“Fortunately, Austin ISD has a strong and effective security plan for all of its campuses that covers exterior doors and school entrances.”

“Earlier this week, Austin High School coach Billy Brown was guarding the school’s outside side door when an unidentified man with no identification approached him, threatened him, and insisted on entering the school through that side door.”

“The man made several attempts to enter the school after being told several times that he was not allowed to enter through that door. The man entered the school and Coach Brown tried to stop him in order to protect himself, the students and teachers at the school. Austin High.
