Health workers show dedication during winter storm

“Tonight I’m staying overnight,” said house caretaker Jane Lee.

Lee is among the many employees who voluntarily gave up their warm beds. during the cold fall asleep in conference rooms converted into sleeping quarters.

“We also use shared bathrooms, shared showers, queues, so even if it means an inconvenience for a night or two or three, our staff is very committed to taking care of our patients,” Lee said.

A spokesman for the hospital said sleeping accommodations are offered at all HCA Healthcare hospitals.

The sacrifice doesn’t end there.

The city of Plano shared a photo of an air mattress set up in the municipal center where some workers will sleep for the next couple of nights.

American Red Cross volunteers have also responded to the call to deliver blood to local hospitals, traveling over icy, unpredictable roads to meet the urgent need.

“The need is significant. The American Red Cross plays an important role in supplying our country with 40% of its blood supply, so when I call and ask if I would like to dedicate some of my time, it was not difficult,” volunteer Binh said. Le.
