HCSO: Father of 6 dies after being hit by car in northern Harris County

While the family was waiting for a tow truck, the man ran across the street to go to the store. As he was running back, he was hit by another driver.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas. A man helping his mother after her car broke down on Northern Highway was hit and killed Tuesday night, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident happened around 9 pm as the man and his wife were on their way home from a birthday party for their little nephew. They stopped along I-45 and Remington Valley Drive to help after his mother-in-law’s car broke down.

While the family was waiting for a tow truck, the man ran across the street to go to the store. As he was running back, he was hit by another driver. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“All my husband tried to do was go to the store,” the man’s wife said. “We were helping someone on the side of the road over there on the freeway. The woman flew so fast that she didn’t see my husband and hit him. And now my kids don’t have a dad anymore.”

The woman says that her husband left six children. The family said he was a loving husband who cared for his family and continued that they were already heartbroken after losing their son last year.

Meanwhile, the driver who hit the man remained at the scene and cooperated with the deputies. They also said that she showed no signs of being drunk.
