Hard Rock Cafe co-founder Peter Morton buys $35 million Hampton estate.

Gimme Shelter has learned that Peter Morton, co-founder of the Hard Rock Cafe chain, is the secret buyer of a massive $35 million Hampton estate.

The property at 51 West End Road in East Hampton was once listed for sale for $60 million. The sellers are Lloyd and Barbara Macklow, founders of the Macklow Gallery on Park Avenue, who bought the estate in 1992 for $3.5 million.

The charming five-bedroom stucco and tiled home with blue accents was built in 1926 by Roger Bullard, architect of the exclusive Maidstone Club. It offers stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and Georgica Pond and is 1.51 acres in size.

The house is next to a property that Morton already owns.

“He plans to reunite both properties,” the source said, adding that the site is 5 acres.

The hotel features a swimming pool, 50m ocean views and lush landscaping. The residence has been renovated over the past two decades by the late developer Ben Krupinski, the listing notes. (Krupinski died in a plane crash in 2018.)

Design details include wide pine floors, a chef’s kitchen with round breakfast alcove and butler’s pantry, a formal dining and living room, and an office. The first floor has a junior bedroom, several fireplaces and a home office. Upstairs, the master bedroom has stunning water views. Inside there is also a full-fledged gym and a private beach boardwalk.

Designer Calvin Klein recently sold two houses nearby for $85 million.

Morton could not be contacted for comment. James Petrie and his father Ed Petrie of Compass represented Morton. Douglas Elliman brokers Kyle Roscoe and Marcy Brown have been listed.
