Haitian-American lawmakers gather for annual leadership conference

NEW YORK – National Network of Elected Officials of Haitian-American Descent (NAEON) announced today that it will hold its 14th Annual Leadership Retreat this week in the New York metro area. The theme of this year’s NHAEON retreat, which will be attended by 300 people, is standing together.

Members and other stakeholders will participate in forums and panel discussions hosted by a well-established think tank of leaders and legislators. Mary Estime-Irwin, Vice Mayor of North Miami, Florida will be the host of the event.

Current and future elected officials will share perspectives on issues that affect Haitians and Haitian Americans, including economic development, humanitarian action, immigration rights, voting rights, social justice and environmental issues. There will be a special track for emerging leaders.

In addition to the rich program, cultural exhibitions and Gala dinner and rewarding of leaderswith keynote speaker, New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez and other special guests.

Among the laureates Congressman Gregory Meeks, Congresswoman Frederica Wilson, and Lieutenant Colonel Fritz Frage. Entertainment will be provided by a Haitian group Classpopular comedian Vlad “Haitian V” Calixte and talented dj stackz Hi Profile Music Group.
