Habitat volunteers help 5 families build homes as part of SW Miami-Dade.

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FL. (WSVN) — A construction blitz in southwest Miami-Dade aims to give grateful families a place to call home, a sweet home.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami works with five families to build homes.

7News cameras caught crews hard at work on Friday.

“For many, hammering is an annoying noise, but for us, it is music to our ears,” said Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami CEO Mario Artekona.

Dozens of other people are also reaching out to these families.

Future homeowner Tiashana Jones expressed her gratitude.

“It’s amazing when people volunteer to help you knowing you’re trying to be a homeowner, trying to provide a stable upbringing and a foundation for yourself and your family,” she said. “How, it’s amazing, people are coming together to help you.”

The construction blitz continues until February 25th.

WSVN is a longtime supporter and sponsor of Habitat for Humanity.
