Gusty winds left nearly 35,000 PG&E customers without power

As PG&E crews grapple with the effects of strong winds that downed trees and power lines across the region, nearly 35,000 PG&E customers in the Bay Area remain without power Wednesday night.

As of 5:00 p.m., the peninsula has the highest concentration of outages, with 28,370 people affected, PG&E spokesperson Tamar Sargsyan said.

According to Sarkisian, 4,182 subscribers experienced power outages in the South Bay, 308 more in the East Bay, 1,748 in the North Bay and 190 in San Francisco.

According to PG&E, 2,800 PG&E crew members are working around the clock to restore power, and 97 percent of affected customers saw power restored within 12 hours.

The shutdowns began on Tuesday. More than 64,000 PG&E customers in the Bay Area were left without power Wednesday morning.
