Guilty agreement reached for Houston woman accused of killing childhood friend and kidnapping child

HOUTSON – A Houston woman accused of kidnapping her childhood friend and newborn baby before killing a friend in 2019 is expected to enter a plea agreement next week, a Travis County court spokesman confirmed to KPRC 2 Tuesday.

Magen Fieramuska is charged with the murder of Heidi Broussard, an Austin mother who disappeared in December 2019. Broussard’s body was found a week later in the trunk of a car parked outside a home in Jersey Village.

Baby Margo was found unharmed and later reunited with her family.

Prison records show that Fieramuska has also been charged with two counts of kidnapping and manipulating a human corpse.

Fieramuschi’s lawyer told KPRC 2 that he and prosecutors have reached an agreement and she is expected to be sentenced to 55 years in prison. As per the charge, he said, she was looking at life in prison without the possibility of parole.

“I assume many have questions that will never be adequately answered, however, I hope this announcement brings an end to the great loss of this family,” Fieramuska’s attorney, Brian Erskine, wrote in an email to KPRC 2.

A hearing on the application and sentencing is scheduled for January 31 in Travis County District Court.

The Travis County District Attorney’s Office released the following statement regarding the plea agreement:

“January 31The DA’s office expects Megan Fieramuska to plead guilty to the murder of Heidi Broussard. The announcement comes as Ms Fieramuska will receive a sentence of 55 years in prison and waive the right to appeal, meaning the defense will not be able to challenge decisions made by the court during pre-trial proceedings. We hope that this outcome will bring some completion and allow the Broussard and Carey families to continue their recovery process. Our hearts continue to break for them and their immeasurable loss.”
