Grupo Hunan to debut Lucrezia Italian eatery in San Diego’s Westfield UTC this summer.

Grupo Hunan’s renowned hospitality empire is set to open its next Italian restaurant in San Diego by this summer, taking over the 7,500 square-foot, ground-level space of Larsen’s Steakhouse at the Westfield UTC mall in La Jolla. This new upscale eatery will be called Lucrezia, named after their founder’s first Italian restaurant, and will offer a different vibe than the company’s other three Italian concepts, such as Prosecco Tavola Rustica, Negroni Trattoria Italiana, and Trastevere Ristorante Italiano. The restaurant will be decked in luxurious and trendy designs, serving dishes created in collaboration with culinary partner Caccio Pizza & Rotisserie.

Pepe Cuaik, the founder of this Mexico City-based group, opened the first Chinese restaurant in Mexico City in 1993 named Hunan. Now, Grupo Hunan boasts of nearly two dozen restaurants in Mexico City, including Nobu’s multi branches, a restaurant in Cabo San Lucas, another in Guadalajara, and a new Mexican restaurant named Alma at The Grove in Los Angeles. Lucrezia will be their second restaurant in the U.S.
