Great South Bay Music Festival announces initial line-up for 2023

Great South Bay Music Festival presented Federal Bank of the Islandhappy to announce that they are back on their 15th. Anniversary. The four-day music and arts festival will return to the newly renovated and picturesque waterfront in Shorefront Park V Patchog Village, from Thursday, July 20 through Sunday, July 23, 2023 Tickets are already available for purchase at www.greatsouthbaymusicfestival.com.

More than 60 performers will take part in the festival on four stages in the genres of classic and modern rock, jam, blues, jazz, americana, ska, reggae, alternative and funk. The festival is sponsored by Voodoo Ranger and boasts a variety of craft beer, adult wine and drink stalls, an artisan and craft market, and a food court serving a varied gourmet menu of unusual and healthy dishes.

The festival is well known for presenting four very different days of music with an eclectic line-up of leading artists performing alongside cutting-edge rising stars. Well, we’ve heard our fans asking for more classic rock and GSB 2023 will be back to presenting a bit more “roots and classic rock” than in the recent past.

Start of the festival Thursday, July 20legendary Electric hot tuna returns for its fourth time at Headline the Main Stage. Classic rock icon Dave Mason immediately supports and Barnburners The Fabulous Thunderbirds featuring Kim Wilson complete the line. Local guitar wizard Kerry Kearney and the Psychedelta Kings start rolling the ball. (10 performers on two stages).

Friday’s annual rock reggae party continues with the return of rock reggae veterans from Huntington Beach, California. dirty heads, sponsored by a ska-punk band from Los Angeles golden finger, plus Exalted Tribute: badfish, Rockers from Maryland Ballihu and up-and-coming reggae rockers from LI’s hometown: Oogie Wawa (15 performers on 3 stages).

ROCK ROYALTY will perform on the Main Stage at Jam-Saturday. Great South Bay is delighted to host legendary bassist and first founding member Grateful dead: Phil Lesh and friends. Supporting Jazz Funksters Trio Eric Krasno, Neighbor and local singer, songwriter and musician Cassandra House. (18 performers on 4 stages).

Great South Bay will close Sunday with ex-The Allman Brothers guitar legend, Warren Haynes and the Government. Mule, performance “The Dark Side of the Mule”tribute 50th. Pink Floyd Classic Album Anniversary Dark side of the Moon, complete with full “incredible” effects and a laser light show.

Immediate Support Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening, plus Duane Betts and the Palmetto Motel. And a phenomenal Long Island-born and raised guitarist returns to our main stage. Brandon “Taz” Niederauer who performed at the Great South Bay on the “up-and-coming artist stage” when he was only 12 and has since shared the stage with Gregg Allman, Gary Clark Jr., Warren Haynes, Lady Gaga and many more.

Great South Bay will once again feature a full schedule of fun educational performers, all day Saturday and Sunday.

Emerging local artists:

Supporting and introducing original emerging artists has always been part of our mission at GSB. In 2023, the festival is pleased to present over 30 talented original artists, whom we are pleased to give stage time and delight our music lovers. Here are some new talented original artists to keep an eye out for this year: Cassandra House (English)performing on our main stage and opening for Phil Lesh), Jules, Jack & Friends, Dudley Music, Robinson Treacher, MJT, Circus Mind, Miles to Dayton, Foster Europe Band, Baked Shrimpand more.

Philanthropy:

Great South Bay is a proud part of our LI community and is committed to doing everything we can to support our less fortunate Long Island brothers and sisters.

Great South Bay will continue to donate $1 from each ticket sold to GSB-Stony Brook Cancer Center Foundation. To date, the festival has raised over a quarter of a million dollars for the cancer center.

We are pleased to announce that our presenting sponsor Federal Bank of the Island will also give food donations of $1–$2 for each ticket sold by LI Cares to Harry Chapin’s food bank.

We will once again donate booth space in our Storyville Tent to local organizations looking to raise awareness and raise funds for their cause.

Thursday, July 20: Doors at 15:00, celebration continues until 22:00.

Friday, July 21: doors at 15:00, music until 23:00,

Saturday, July 22: doors at 13:00, music until 23:00,

Sunday, July 23: doors at 14:00, performances until 22:00.

Ticket prices include all concerts and entertainment. Food and drinks are not included.

Children under 10 years free.

Shorefront Park is located just a few miles south of LIE, exit 63S, …directly to the magnificent Great South.
