Grab a Superbowl Sunday snack? Here are some healthy options to prepare on game day.

HOUSTON “When you’re making your grocery list for Sunday’s big game, consider these healthy snacks,” says Dr. Kristin Le at the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic.

Trays for vegetables and fruits

They will help you fill up so that you are not tempted by high-calorie foods.

Cheese trays

“The tray of cheese and nuts is very nutritious. Nuts are very satisfying because they have protein,” said Dr. Le. “Cheese is a good option for dairy products. It helps people feel full, it’s so natural, healthy, and good for the bones.”

Fry or bake chicken wings

Beware of sauces full of sodium and hidden sugars. Le said to skip the ranch and the BBQ and opt for the buffalo sauce instead.

To make the ranch healthier, Dr. Le suggested mixing Greek yogurt with the ranch instead of sour cream, which can work without the full fat.

Popcorn on the stove

Stovetop helps you make the healthiest popcorn. This eliminates the salty, oily ingredients found in microwaveable bags.
