Good Samaritan Homeowners Express Concerns about Selling Homes

COUNTY COUNTY, Florida. – Following the announcement that the Good Samaritan Society was selling the community of Kissimmee Village, News 6 spoke to the residents who currently live there.

Ray Rodriguez, a local homeowner, said: “Our biggest concern is that they want to change the whole area and turn it into something else, or they come in and say, ‘Hey, we’re going to make a lot of money here and raise the rent.’ .

The company said it is consolidating services in seven states.

In an email, Good Samaritan Society President and CEO Nate Schema said, in part, “Locations outside of the seven state service areas will be gradually transitioned to new aged care providers, and we are committed to selecting quality providers that will continue our mission. Until transitions are completed at every location, these employees and residents will not see a change in their daily experience.”

Rodriguez said his home, like many who lived there, was affected by Hurricane Jan.

He told News 6 he was not eligible for financial assistance because he did not have flood insurance.

He said residents are still in the process of renovating their homes and the announcement creates uncertainty.
