Police guard the Foster Gwyn Gallery in the Financial District a day after a video of a business owner pointing a hose at a homeless woman went viral.

Gallery owner Collier Gwyn has since received a smashed front door and a flood of one-star Google reviews in light of the incident — the business is now listed online as temporarily closed.

The SFPD patrol car now stands near the besieged store. The police department has been contacted for comment.

After the ensuing fury, San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott called for calm.

“I ask for the courtesy of people to step back and call the police, call 311 or 911,” Scott said. “Let’s come together and help resolve disputes if you can’t resolve them in a civilized manner, because the last thing we want is for anyone to get hurt.”

AND call twitter for the meeting outside Gwin’s gallery did not take place because of heavy rain Wednesday afternoon.

Supervisor Aaron Peskin spoke about this at a press conference on Wednesday. “It is painful and horrifying to see someone treat the destitute and desperate with such inhumanity,” Peskin said.

“It is important that our society and our government send a clear signal that people cannot take their frustration and the law into their own hands,” he continued.

The newly elected President of the Supervisory Board added that he hoped that criminal cases would be brought against Gwin and an arrest would be made soon.

Gwin did not respond to The Standard for the comment, but told ABC 7 that he acted because of the city’s homelessness crisis.
