Franklin Township Blaze Upgrades to Second Alarm

On the night of June 9, 2023, at approximately 7:10 p.m., firefighters were urgently dispatched to Route 27 and South Middlebush in Franklin Township, NJ. Sources report an abandoned structure was discovered ablaze, heightening the risk of potentially detrimental effects on the surrounding area. As responding units neared the location, reports indicated that unmistakable smoke was already billowing in the vicinity.

After arriving on the scene, firefighters reported that the smoke was emanating from the second floor of the structure. Fearing an intensification of the fire, a second alarm was sounded, which required additional emergency responders to attend the location promptly. Despite the responsive measures of the firefighters, there were indeed reports of hydrant/water main issues that arose, making the already challenging situation even tougher.

As the emergency team’s efforts to restrain the fire persisted, it was reported that the fire had been subdued at around 7:38 p.m. Although, the scarcity of information available concerning the specifics of the incident renders it uncertain if the swift conclusion was somehow impeded by the water issues experienced earlier.

The exact cause of the fire and the magnitude of any potential destruction is yet to be confirmed. Consequently, it remains uncertain if any damage affected the surrounding area or the extent to which the abandoned structure itself was impacted. Locals in the area were understandably anxious following the incident and the details of the disaster are still being sought.
