Foundation created in memory of 8-year-old Austin crash victim.

New Foundation Established in Memory of Young Boy

A family in Austin, Texas has created a foundation in memory of their son who tragically passed away following a car wreck in December. Although only eight years old, young Jude Calley had already made a big impact on those around him. His mother, Mary Grace Calley, described him as a “joyful and bubbly” child, always willing to help others in need.

Jude and his father, Brandon Calley, were involved in a serious roll-over crash on FM 1626 near Hays County in December. Jude was rushed to Dell Children’s Medical Center with life-threatening injuries but unfortunately passed away soon after. However, in death, Jude became a hero, saving the lives of two adults and two children through organ donations.

Jude was a keen baseball player and played for the Austin Raptors Baseball Team. During his time in hospital, the baseball community showed their full support for Jude and his family. Mary Grace Calley recalls, “the whole entire community rallied around us, and they wore Jerseys for Jude.”

To continue the legacy and light of their beloved son, the Calley family has launched the JC7 Foundation, with the J standing for Jude, C for Calley, and 7 representing his baseball number. The foundation’s mission is to enrich the lives of children and support families who have lost a child. Brandon Calley said they aim to provide children in disadvantaged situations with access to team sports, the arts, and faith-based programs.

The foundation will also offer financial and emotional support to families who have lost a child, giving them space to grieve and find a sense of purpose in their pain. Kendra Scott hosted a Celebration of Life for Jude recently, bringing the community together to show their support for the family and the foundation’s mission.

Since its establishment, the JC7 Foundation has raised a remarkable $100,000, demonstrating the broad support for this worthwhile cause. The Calley family is now looking forward to using these funds to spread joy and hope to others, all in memory of their beloved Jude, who will forever be a hero in their eyes.
