Fort Myers man convicted of killing pregnant girlfriend in 2020

FORT MYERS, Florida. Serge Lefebvre was sentenced Tuesday morning for the death of Cassandra Clermont and her unborn twins at the Cypress Court Apartments in Fort Myers.

Fort Myers police received a call from a man later identified as Serge Lefebvre asking for an ambulance for a woman who was reportedly having a seizure, was unconscious and not breathing, according to the Fort Myers Police Department as early as November 30 2020.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and Lefevre and four other small children were taken out of the apartment. Police say an investigation into the murder was launched immediately.

On February 5, 2021, police said that detectives had received a medical report stating the cause of the woman’s death was homicide.

Lefebvre did not dispute the allegations, including:

  • Murder is the second degree as defined in FSS 782.04(2)
  • Partial abortion as defined in FSS 782.34 (two items)
  • Aggravated lethal battery as defined in FSS 784.45(2b)
  • Aggravated battery (pregnant victim) as defined in FSS 784.045(l)(b)
  • Abduction as defined in FSS 787.01
  • False imprisonment as defined in FSS 787.02
