Former law enforcement officer found guilty of sexual harassment; Also accused of kidnapping victims while working as a government soldier.

HOUSTON – A federal jury in Houston found a 33-year-old former state trooper guilty of assaulting two women in the line of duty.

U.S. Justice Department officials say the jury returned a guilty verdict against Lee Ray Boykin Jr. after a four-day trial.

According to court documents, Boykin took advantage of two separate victims while working as a member of the military. Boykin reportedly committed aggravated sexual assault on one victim and kidnapped another victim. He was also found guilty on two counts of destroying, altering, or falsifying records in a federal investigation.

During the trial, one of the victims explained how Boykin drove her to a secluded parking lot after being ordered out of a girlfriend’s car after a traffic stop. Once there, Boykin falsely accused her of being a prostitute, threatened to put her in jail, and forced her to perform oral sex on him. Afterwards, he reportedly told her to run with his hand on his gun.

The jury heard evidence showing Boykin’s DNA in the parking lot. The victim’s DNA was also found on Boykin’s underwear.

The second victim testified that Boykin ordered her out of her friend’s car and put her in Boykin’s car. Boykin falsely told her that she had outstanding traffic warrants. He then drove the victim to the same secluded parking lot, where she performed oral sex on him. Three days later, Boykin tried again to put her in his war machine, but she managed to escape.

The jury learned of Boykin’s statements to the authorities. Regarding the sexual abuse of the first victim, he said he thought he “got away with it” and knew he shouldn’t have done it. He said he “just wanted to try”.

The jury did not believe the defense’s claims and eventually found him guilty.

“My office is firmly committed to ensuring the civil rights of every person in the Southern District of Texas,” US Attorney Hamdani said. “We rely on our police and federal agents every day to serve and protect. This lone officer, however, used his power to stalk and prey on his victims for his own sexual gratification. We are pleased that the jury agreed that this behavior is unacceptable in our community.”

Boykin was and will remain in custody pending sentencing.
