Florida man arrested after drunk driving into Crestview Church

(WSVN) — A Crestview man is behind bars after crashing into a church early Saturday morning.

Paul Carroll, 38, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence which resulted in an accident with serious bodily injury.

Officials said police arrived at the scene just after midnight and found the vehicle unable to turn on the winding road.

The car rolled over and passed in front of Crestview First Presbyterian Church, located at the intersection of James Lee Boulevard and North Furdon Boulevard.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, four people were removed from the car.

Three passengers were seriously injured and taken to hospital, while Carroll refused medical attention on the spot.

He has now been charged with driving while intoxicated causing grievous bodily harm.

Carroll was taken to the Okaloosa County Jail and later released on $10,000 bail.
