As the cost of many things has gone up, we have found some great places to take the family that are completely free.

SAN ANTONIO — Spring Break is just around the corner, which means finding family activities to do while the kids are out of school.

And with the rising cost of many things, we have found some great places to take the family that are completely free.

Take a look at five free things to do with kids this spring break.

Pearsall Park

There is so much to do in Pearsall Park! This San Antonio gem is tucked away on the southwest side and offers a huge playground, hiking trails, skate park, and dog park.

It also has a “Fitness Challenge Zone” offering plenty of ways to get in shape for summer. You can also spend the whole day at the disc golf course by yourself. It’s completely free, just bring your own Frisbee!

Pearsall Park is open from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm and is located at 4838 Old Pearsall Road.

Witte Museum

Enjoy spring break by heading to the famous Witte Museum. Every Tuesday the museum offers free admission from 15:00 to 18:00.

As a special treat, the museum has an exhibition called “Toys: How We Play”, which features toys from different time periods. Parents can interact with their children by displaying toys from their childhood. The exposure goes through

The Witte Museum is located at 3801 Broadway.

And this is just one of several museums in the San Antonio area offering a free day during the week. Click here for a complete list of days the museum is closed.

Japanese tea garden

The Japanese Tea Garden is a beautiful oasis in the middle of downtown San Antonio. Originally it was a quarry, which was turned into a garden. It was closed for extensive restoration and reopened in 2008.

From a carp pond to a waterfall to an impressive pagoda, this garden offers plenty of opportunities for family memories and great photographs.

It is located at 3853 North Saint Mary’s Street and is open from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Woodlawn Lake Park

It’s worth heading to the west side of San Antonio to visit a local favorite, Woodlawn Lake Park. It is surrounded by a coastal walking and cycling path that offers great views of the lake and city skyline.

There is something for everyone in this park, which also has a large playground and completely free tennis courts. For older kids and teens, the docks are the perfect place for amazing social media photos.

Woodlawn Lake Park is located at 1103 Cincinnati Avenue and is open from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm.

Mission Reach of the San Antonio River

Connect with nature at Mission Rich on the San Antonio River. It is away from the crowds of the main central part of the River Walk and has over 16 miles of hiking trails. There are several parks and entry points along the trail. Hiking is free, but for an additional fee, you can rent kayaks to paddle over eight miles of paddling trails.

Add some history while the kids are out of school by heading to Historic Missions, some of which are connected to the Mission Reach trails.

We checked out Mission Concepción, which is in the Concepción Park area along Mission Rich. It is located at 807 Mission Road and is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
