Five Christian Students Killed, Spent Last Week Taking Bible Classes: ‘They Finished the Race’

A community in Arkansas is shaken after five of its members died in an out-of-state car crash after attending Bible classes for a week.

According to KATV-TV in Little Rock, Arkansas, Salomon Correa, Magdalene Franco, Ava Luplow, Andrea Prime, and Susie Prime were on a church-sponsored trip to Jackson Hole Bible College in Jackson, Wyoming.

All five, who were current or former students of Sylvan Hills High School and attended Bible Fellowship of Faith in North Little Rock, were killed in a multi-vehicle collision that occurred around 7:00 pm on January 22, KATV reported.

The accident occurred after a driver who drove down the wrong track crashed into multiple vehicles on Interstate 80. According to WCYB-TV, the Tennessee man currently faces 11 charges in connection with the accident, including aggravated driving homicide and driving under the influence of controlled substances. with serious bodily injury.

Jackson Hole Bible College said in a statement that students from Arkansas “spent the past week in class and getting to know this year’s students, as well as interacting with staff who were previous classmates of the three of them.”

However, in this greatest tragedy, the school was able to share in a statement what should be the enduring message behind these seemingly meaningless deaths:

“There is no doubt that what they now see with their own eyes is unspeakable joy, as they have completed the race set before them and are now enjoying fellowship with their Savior.”

The statement explained:

“It is with unspeakable joy that we inform you that our friends have come to believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. As a result, we know that they are currently with Him, a reality that we are very envious of.

“We know from the Word of God in Colossians 1:16 that by Him (Jesus) all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or authorities—all things were created by Him and for him.”

“Because our friends knew they were made by Him and for Him, they lived and breathed it for those who wanted to hear. This was and is their desire to proclaim the glory (splendor) of Christ. It is only fitting that sharing their hope in Jesus Christ is the best way to honor them,” the statement said.

“Since Jesus lives, the temporary separation of our friends from us creates only a fraction of pain compared to the infinite joy that will be in eternity with our Savior, “the author and perfecter of faith, who, instead of the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2.”

The church also has an excerpt from writer and theologian Tim Chally, who lost his son two years ago, according to the statement:

“While our loved ones left us, they did not cease to be. They just went ahead. Because Jesus rose again, they will rise again. Since Jesus conquered death, they will conquer death,” the passage says. “Because Jesus lives, they live.

“And so we mourn. We grieve at the time of loss, and our grief can last many days, weeks, or years. The pain is real, the sadness is real, so the grief is real. But we mourn with hope because we are convinced that we mourn temporarily.”

This, of course, does not reduce the pain.

“I feel like my heart is broken,” said Lydia VanderWeight, who grew up in a church with the deceased, to KARK-TV in Little Rock. “They all had such cheerful personalities, they could get along, always laughing with each other.”

Meanwhile, two students—Suzie Prime and Ava Laplau—worked at the Humble Crumb Bakery, whose owners said they would close for two weeks to mourn the loss.

“Our lives have changed forever, and the bakery will constantly feel this emptiness. Our small team lost two of their own, two pearls, on Sunday,” the bakery said in a Facebook post.

“We have ONE comfort and ONE hope, and that comfort comes only from God. Ava and Susie loved Jesus and knew Him as their Redemptive Savior. They wanted to serve Him with their lives and relied on HIM for their salvation. Now they are with HIM in glory, and though we bear their loss, our hearts are also filled with hope.”

The magnitude of the loss should also convince us of the depth of the Lord’s love for us.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith,” says 2 Timothy 4:7.

The race may have been short for these young women, but they ran bravely and kept the faith.

This should not only be a source of consolation and consolation for those who knew them, but also a source of joy. The river of sorrows that flows through this vale of tears is nothing compared to the ocean of joy into which it flows.
