Firefighters rescue 5 people from a fire in an apartment in Auckland

Five Aucklanders were rescued from an apartment fire on Saturday morning, and one of them required medical attention due to smoke inhalation.

Oakland firefighters responded to a residential fire in the 1500 block of Alice Street at approximately 5 a.m., according to a statement from the Oakland Fire Department.

Additional resources were called in to put out the fire at 5:11 and 5:16 before the flames were brought under control.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
