Firefighters fought a suspicious fire on the southwest side

The battalion commander says one person is missing, but they believe he may have been far from home.

SAN ANTONIO – Firefighters battled suspicious blazes in the city’s southwest section late Sunday night.

SAFD responded to fire reports at the facility at approximately 10:24 p.m. at Block 9200 Echo Port Drive.

When they arrived, they were greeted by flames coming from the back and side of the house.

Everyone has been evacuated, but the battalion commander says one man has yet to be found, but they suspect he may have been far from his home.

There was a collapse of the roof and floor, and the main walls were sloping, which could lead to collapse, preventing firefighters from entering the house to search further.

The house is likely to be demolished by the city. No real damage has been reported.

The battalion commander reports that a second fire was discovered nearby, which appears to have been deliberate. It wasn’t a house, he said, but it appeared to be an arson crime.

Investigations are ongoing at the scene of the fire to determine what caused the fire.
