Fire broke out at the site of a temporary dumping of debris from the Round Rock ice storm

Round Rock firefighters are trying to figure out what caused the fire at the site of a temporary bush dump in the city.

When firefighters arrived shortly before 10:00 pm on February 28, they found heavy equipment on fire at the landing site on E. Palm Valley Parkway.

An excavator and mulcher were used to remove bushes after an ice storm last month.

It took firefighters about 18 minutes to control the fire and it was extinguished by 10:29 pm.

As a precaution, Round Rock residents were advised to stay in their homes while the fire burned, but that warning has since been lifted. There is no threat to the population.

There are no reports of casualties, and the cause is yet to be ascertained.
