FINBOURNE and Tumelo Collaborate to Help Fund Managers Reflect Investor Voting Rights

FINBOURNE Technology today announces a new partnership with the leading investor in the Fintech market, Tumelo. The integration of Tumelo’s voting technology into FINBOURNE’s cloud-based investment management data platform, LUSID, will help fund managers better understand and reflect the interests of investors when voting.

The partnership aims to promote greater shareholder democracy as investors seek to become more active owners of the companies that shape their pensions and investments. With increasingly diverse views on sustainable investing, investors are now demanding more voice on issues that matter to them; from board elections to climate change.

The API-based Tumelo platform, backed by Fidelity International Strategic Ventures (FISV), provides fund managers with a cost-effective way to enable retail and institutional investors to vote. Armed with real-time voting reports, fund managers can use Tumelo’s flexible voting products to better communicate and align with investors and stay ahead of expected regulatory changes.

The partnership, accessible through the FINBOURNE Advanced Financial Data Stack, allows fund managers to understand the issues and decisions that matter to major investors by gathering information about investor preferences, voting or expressing wishes. This ability will prove invaluable as they seek to build long-term relationships with existing clients and attract new investors.

The integration will provide unrivaled access to aggregated investor preference data, voting policy information, and investor voting information. Importantly, this will not only support managers in effectively fulfilling their fiduciary responsibilities, but will also open the door for investment firms to consider the role they can play in addressing ESG and sustainability issues.

Will Goodwin, co-founder of Tumelo, commented: “Tumelo was created with the goal of achieving greater shareholder democracy for all investors. Working closely with the industry to create a suite of products that solve a real industry problem, it has become clear that good governance is at the heart of achieving this vision. We provide fund managers with an unrivaled opportunity to better understand investors and build their trust, adding value to relationships and helping them attract and retain a diverse client base.”

Alokik Advani, Managing Partner at Fidelity International Strategic Ventures (FISV), commented: “What’s interesting about Tumelo is the use of the cloud to increase shareholder engagement. It has mass appeal to a growing global community of contributors, trustees and investors who want to express their views and values. Integrating this capability into FINBOURNE’s open investment data management platform provides fund managers with a valuable tool to respond to investors’ growing need for democracy and increased dialogue in a controlled and intuitive way.”

Matthew Luff, Head of Partnerships at FINBOURNE Technology, adds: “Fund managers work best when they create products that their clients want and with which they can interact constructively. In an industry where transparency and accountability are paramount, enabling our clients to understand what investors are willing to vote for is an exciting and necessary step. We are excited to offer this service through our partnership with Tumelo and enable our customers to make a positive difference with valuable data.”
