FHP looking for driver who fled after crashing into ditch

LEE COUNTY, Florida. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating a one-vehicle accident in Lee County.

It happened Wednesday morning at 2:25 at 5100 Neal Road.

According to the report, the Mercury Grand Marquis was driving south, veered off the road, hit a ditch and overturned, hitting a mailbox, telephone booth and cable pole.

The driver fled the scene on foot after the crash, police said.

Anyone with information about this accident is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol or Crimestoppers.

The crash is still under investigation.

FHP states that it is against the law to leave the scene of an accident that results in property damage, injury or death.

If you have an accident, FHP says to stay at the scene and call for help.
