Fertility company Kindbody makes $100 million

Hybrid Fertility and Reproductive Health Company Kindbody has received a whopping $100 million from life sciences investment firm Perceptive Advisors, bringing its total fundraising to $290 million and a valuation of $1.8 billion.

Kindbody offers virtual and in-person services including birth control, egg freezing, fertility testing, gynecological care, and virtual wellness and coaching services.

The New York-based company bills itself as a birth-benefit platform for 112 companies with 42 employer clients, including Walmart.

The funding will enable the company to open new clinics in underserved markets in the US and improve its service model. Company founder and chairman Gina Bartazi said she will also make strategic acquisitions in 2023.

“With the support of Perceptive Advisors and our other investors, Kindbody can bring our vision to life to help everyone fulfill their dream of becoming a parent by making high-quality fertility treatment accessible and accessible to everyone,” Bartazi said in a statement. .

The company made three acquisitions in 2022, the first acquisition Vios Fertility Institute, a network of fertility clinics operating in Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, Oregon, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Then he bought a genomics company Phosphorus Labs, which brings together a staff of Phosphorus geneticists and laboratory technicians with a division of fertility startup KindLabs.

Finally, Kindbody announced the acquisition of a Chicago-based surrogacy agency. Alternative Reproductive Resources, noting that ARR employees will work for the company’s KindEOS division, which does egg and embryo donation.

Prior to the acquisition, the company announced launch of home fertility tests for men and women that measure hormones related to reproductive function and health and can be combined with in-person or virtual meetings with a Kindbody doctor to discuss results.
