FDOT Plans to Expand I-75 South Corridor

FORT MYERS, Florida — The Florida Department of Transportation is considering improvements to I-75’s Southern Corridor.

The FDOT is looking into widening lanes and is awaiting public input on a major project.

The improvements on the I-75 would stretch 42 miles in length.

The project will stretch from Fort Myers North at SR-78 Bayshore Road to SR 951 Collier Boulevard.

The FDOT said the extension of the I-75 southern corridor would improve traffic.

Right now they are doing a planning and feasibility study to analyze the current and expected future traffic or demand for the interstate system.

Some of the plan’s improvements will include widening lanes and changing interchanges.

FDOT plans to complete this study by summer.

On Thursday, the FDOT will provide the public with an opportunity to speak up and contribute to the project.

The public meeting begins at 5:00 pm at North Collier Regional Park.
