Fatal shooting in Southeast Austin leaves 1 dead, 1 injured.
A homicide case in southeast Austin is currently being investigated by the local police force, according to recent reports. The incident took place on Monday morning, and police received multiple calls around 2:49 a.m. regarding shots being fired near the 7700 block of Springfield. Among the callers was a female who shared concerns regarding her friend’s wellbeing.
Upon reaching the location, police discovered a male victim who had suffered severe injuries to his upper body. Sadly, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the female caller was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
The authorities are yet to identify any suspects in connection to this case, but they have assured citizens that there is no immediate threat to public safety. Officers have requested anyone residing in the immediate vicinity to check their doorbell cameras and security cameras to ascertain if they have captured any footage related to the incident.
Officer Andrew Horne has urged any residents who believe they may have filmed something significant, no matter how insignificant it may seem to them, to report the same to the authorities. The police department is hopeful that this footage will help in uncovering leads that could be pertinent to the case.
