A tragic incident occurred on the west side of San Antonio on Sunday, resulting in the death of 26-year-old Vanessa Martinez after being shot in the chest in what seemed to be a road-rage incident. According to the police, an altercation between two women led to the fatal shooting.
The incident took place at around 9:30 p.m. at a Murphy’s gas station off of Loop 410 near Military Drive. The drivers followed each other to the gas station, driving aggressively, after an earlier altercation at a different location. Eyewitnesses reported that the victim pulled up to the gas pump where she was confronted by the suspect.
The police sergeant at the scene stated that during the altercation, the suspect shot the victim one time in the chest. The victim was initially taken to University Hospital in critical condition but later died due to her injuries. The suspect, identified as Kasey Garcia, 23, was taken into custody for further questioning and was later arrested for murder.
No other injuries were reported, and no further details were provided by the authorities. This tragic event has left many in mourning and has shed light on the dangers of road rage and the need for greater awareness of the consequences of violent behavior.
