According to witnesses at the scene, the ill-fated pickup truck was traveling eastbound when it inexplicably veered across the center lane, directly into the path of the massive 18-wheeler. The violent impact of the collision claimed the life of the pickup truck’s driver, identified as 23-year-old Eric Hernandez from Bastrop County. Hernandez was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where, tragically, his injuries proved fatal.
