Tragic Accident Claims Life of Young Woman in Upper Freehold Township

In a devastating turn of events on July 10, 2024, a fatal motor vehicle crash occurred on County Road Route 539 in Upper Freehold Township, Monmouth County. According to Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron of the New Jersey State Police, Office of Public Information, the incident took place at 10:58 a.m. when an Acura sedan, driven by 21-year-old Carla Rinconrumay from Trenton, NJ, was traveling northbound on County Road 539. A Mack semi-trailer, operated by 25-year-old Tyler Combs from Allentown, NJ, was heading southbound on the same road.

The collision between the two vehicles occurred at milepost 39.2, with the front of the Mack impacting the right side of the Acura within the southbound lane. Subsequently, both vehicles veered off the road, went down an embankment, and struck a utility pole. Tragically, Carla Rinconrumay sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash, while Tyler Combs suffered minor injuries.

Emergency responders, including Hope Fire Company – Upper Freehold Township Firefighters and Capital Health EMS, rushed to the scene to provide assistance. The Monmouth County Highway Department and Fire Police from Hope Fire Company worked diligently to maintain a detour around the accident site for the safety of other motorists.
