WINDSOR WEST, NJ (MERCER). On February 28, 2023, Amtrak train 178 traveled from Washington, D.C. to Boston for approx. 6:54 p.m. when a man intruding on the tracks collided with a train east of Princeton Junction. There were no reports of injuries to passengers or crew on board. Amtrak is working with local law enforcement to investigate the incident. All four tracks up to the PHL were delayed. Track 4 was opened at 20:47.

According to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), railroad right-of-way violations are the leading cause of railroad deaths in America, and railroad crossing incidents are the second leading cause of railroad deaths in America. These incidents can affect everyone involved – those injured or killed and their families, our train crews and our passengers. They also serve as an important reminder of the importance of obeying the law and extreme caution at railroad tracks and crossings. Amtrak continues to work closely with Operation Lifesaver (OLI) on #STOPTrackTragedies, highlighting the obvious dangers of being on railroad property or ignoring warnings at railroad crossings.
