Famous Korean restaurant Jaws Topokki Street Food opens in San Diego

With over 400 locations worldwide, the first regional branch of the internationally recognized South Korean street food chain Jaws TPK will soon open in San Diego.

Founded in South Korea in 2008 as Jaws Food, Jaws TPK currently has over 420 outlets in South Korea and Vietnam, with only two U.S. locations located at the Source Mall in Orange County and Los Angeles Koreatown. Angeles. The chain offers a menu of Korean street food, including Korean gimbap sushi and their famous topokki (commonly known as tteokbokki), popular dishes in Korea that are made from fried rice cakes cooked in sweet and spicy sauces with a variety of vegetables. .

The first Jaws TPK store in San Diego will open at H Mart’s grocery store on Balboa Street in Kearny Mesa. The branch is a product of franchisee Kevin Bang, who also operates three outposts of the Korean fried chicken chain Bonchon and the Japanese cheesecake bakery Cheese Garden in the Carmel Valley. In addition to varieties of tteokbokki and kimbap, the diner will also serve fried cheese balls, Korean sundae sausage and a selection of slushies made with the traditional sweet rice drink known as sikhye.
