Grieving family members and friends came together to remember lost young lives.

A later tragedy was murder-suicide.

As a result, four people died, including three teenage girls. It happened in a house on 2nd Street near Eastway.

On Sunday, the memory of the teenagers was immortalized by those who loved them.

“Sad, shocked by what happened,” said Suzy Villafranca.

Villafranca says two of the shooting victims were her nieces. Teenager Lily’s mother stood beside her with a broken heart.

“She doesn’t feel very well,” she said.

Sayuri Gill, 19, and Melanie Torres, 13, were sisters. The two, along with 14-year-old Laisha Perez, who was their neighbor and friend, were shot to death in a murder-suicide.

Sayuri was six months pregnant.

“They were so happy. They were happy girls,” Susie said.

Detectives say the shooter was the sisters’ mother’s boyfriend and was jealous of her.

Investigators say a 38-year-old man raped a 12-year-old girl and ordered her to leave.

“She’s obviously not feeling well,” Villafranca said.

Surveillance cameras recorded a shot from a house in Galena Park.

In the video, a 12-year-old girl was able to save a one-year-old child.

Resident David Brown lives across the street from where the tragedy unfolded.

“I heard gunshots last night around 10:30. I have cameras, you can see it in this tree and then all over the house. I saw someone running down the road, so I got up,” said David Brown.

The family is now supporting the memories of the victims with photographs.

They are trying to understand why something like this happened.

“They were happy girls. They were always smiling. Even if I feel bad, they always had positive comments,” said Suzy Villafranca.

If you would like to help the family, you can send an email to Susy Villafranca at [email protected].

The 13-year-old boy was in sixth grade at Galena Park High School.

Galena ISD released a statement saying they are deeply saddened by the tragic events that took place last night and earlier this week. School leaders offer counseling services to students and staff who need help.
