SAN DIEGO (CUSI) – El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells announced his candidacy for the US House of Representatives in California’s 51st congressional district.

“I am pleased to announce my nomination for Congress,” Wells said. “I have spent my entire life serving this community and I am eager to bring the same level of dedication and passion to Congress. The people of the 51st constituency deserve a representative who will fight tirelessly to strengthen our economy and our national security, and I stand ready to be that representative.”

Wells has been the mayor of El Cajon since 2013 and was one of the leading voices against the Democratic-led County Board of Supervisors, which failed to respond to homelessness and became very popular for his common sense. countering over-coverage of the county by COVID-19. regulations.

“I’m running for Congress because I believe our country needs bold, assertive leadership,” Wells said. “Urgent action is needed to deal with the catastrophe of the homeless and untreated mentally ill, as well as demand real border security and abandon the Biden administration’s suicidal border policies.” Wells continued. “I have watched our current congresswoman long enough to know that she is unwilling to act to protect our community,” Wells concluded.

The 51st congressional district includes the cities of El Cajon, La Mesa, and Lemon Grove, as well as San Diego communities such as Scripps Ranch, Penasquitos Ranch, San Carlos, the College District, Allied Gardens, and many more.

Wells will campaign against Democratic incumbent Sarah Jacobs.
