Feb. 1 was the deadline for Bay Area cities and counties to submit new housing plans to the state for the next few years, and many jurisdictions are expected to miss Wednesday’s deadline.
Of the approximately 110 cities and counties in the Bay Area, about 65 had not submitted their so-called housing plan as of Wednesday morning, according to the Bay Area Council.
This means that these jurisdictions will have a “builder’s facility” giving developers the freedom to build affordable housing anywhere in those areas, even if the city or county objects.
