DoorDash suspends delivery service in DFW due to winter storm
The company said it would suspend operations due to dangerous road conditions and closures caused by snow and ice.
DALLAS. Those looking for food should avoid DoorDash as the delivery service has announced it is suspending operations for extreme weather conditions.
On Tuesday afternoon, DoorDash announced that it would be activating a severe weather protocol, which meant a suspension of operations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
This precaution was taken as the icy conditions caused dangerous road conditions and the closure of the metroplex.
“This severe winter storm has created extremely dangerous travel conditions,” DoorDash spokesman Juian Crowley said in a statement.
Operations are expected to resume at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, depending on weather conditions, the service said.
“Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this storm,” Crowley added. We want to thank affected Dashers, merchants and customers for their understanding in these difficult conditions and we will resume operations when it is safe to do so.”
Another delivery service, Uber Eats, is apparently still offering delivery for those who still don’t have food at home, but it may take longer due to traffic conditions.
