Dog rescued after getting stuck in pond

(WSVN) — Animal control officers in Tampa spent time rescuing a dog stuck in a pond.

According to a Facebook post, Hillsborough County Animal Services received a call about a dog that had become stranded in shallow water in a pond. A child walking to school noticed that the dog was stuck in some floating vegetation and alerted the authorities.

The Hillsborough County Fire and Rescue Department was called to assist animal control officers.

Crews were able to install a rope system to lower the firefighter into the water. The fireman approached the stranded dog and carried it back to the boardwalk, where the crews were able to safely lift the dog with a large net and ropes.

Animal Welfare said the dog did not have a microchip and was taken to the Pet Resource Center. They said if his owner didn’t show up soon, they’d give him up for adoption after being spayed, microchipped and registered under the name “Gil” after his savior.
